How To Make Your Own Soyaki Balls
For persons who are on their vegan journey there are a wealth of creative ways to enjoy meals. Having soyaki balls, is akin to eating meatballs but, the vegetarian kind. Correct, there is no meat involved, so how do we get our protein? Its in the soybean… In fact here is the recipe for Soyaki Balls.
Recipe – Soyaki Balls
The Ingredients
- 1 Cup – Soybean Chunks
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
- 2 tbsp – Mixed Herbs
- 1 tsp – Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tbsp – Dry Bread Crumbs
- 1 Cup – Water
Here’s How
Step 1 – In a pressure cooker, add the soybean chunks and the water cook for 25 minutes at 15lb pressure.
Step 2 – Drain and chop the chunks finely when completely cooked
Step 3 – Add the egg, bread crumbs, herbs and Worcestershire sauce – Mix well
Step 4 – Form and roll the mix into small balls. Coat with bread crumbs.
Step 5 – Bake on lightly greased baking tray in an oven (350`F) for 15 minutes
Step 6 – Let cool and serve
This recipe makes 18 Soyaki Balls.
Be mindful that a serving of two soyaki balls is relatively low in fat, yet a good source of calcium, thiamine, iron, riboflavin and niacin. This can be used as an appetizer in your meals and is suitable for lacto-ovo vegetarians.
