A Few Exercises For Your Prostate

Prostate: The most advisable exercises

The prostate is a gland located under a man’s bladder and its function is to produce semen. This organ is crossed by the urethra and therefore allows the expulsion of urine. This important gland should be cared for throughout life through healthy habits. If that doesn’t happen, a man may have trouble urinating, and have the feeling of intense pain. If the prostate is not well maintained, there could be serious consequences on male health.

Essential prostate care consists of good daily hydration, avoiding excess alcohol, feeding nutritiously and performing physical activity regularly.

Strengthening the prostate can be achieved through cardiovascular exercises as well as some anaerobic exercises such as weight-lifting. Kegel exercises are also highly recommended when taking care of the prostate.

Cardio Exercises

A man can take care of the health of his prostate through simple cardiovascular exercises. The added benefit is that it can also help him to maintain an adequate weight, in his body/mass index ratio. The simplest aerobic exercises that can be initiated are walking, jogging and running. If you want to lead a healthy life and take care of your prostate you can simply start going for a walk. If you want to challenge yourself a little more you can go for a run, although it is advisable that you start jogging first. Of course you must do some warm-ups and warm-downs so that the muscles are not injured.

If you already have prostate problems you can opt for swimming, as this exercise does not generate any impact and benefits the pelvic area of your body.

To be healthy we recommend that you must do any of these mentioned weekly exercises for at least three hours a week. This may then be increased in time and intensity as you progress.

Anaerobic exercises and Kegel exercises

Anaerobic exercises are advisable when taking care of the prostate, especially exercises that work the pelvic area. You can do sit-ups, crunches, backbends, squats, push-ups, weight lifting, barbell lifting and short, intense runs that work the lower body. Before starting an anaerobic routine, it is advisable to be guided by a fitness coach.

Practice these exercises 3 to 4 hours a week.

Kegel exercises – are highly recommended for prostate health. These exercises can be practiced daily at home. You should first consult your primary care physician for specific exercises that you should do.

However, there is a simple Kegel exercise that you can do daily to take care of your prostate.

  • Your bladder must be empty.
  • Lie down on your bed.
  • Squeeze the muscles of the pelvic area for 5 seconds.
  • Relax those muscles for 5 seconds.

In addition to taking care of your prostate, the training benefits your quality of life.
