Hunger and Eating Healthy
Hunger: Something you can control
We all know that in order to be healthy we must eat properly and achieve an adequate weight according to our age and body structure. We want to maintain a healthy bond with food but we encounter an obstacle: HUNGER. When we feel hungry we tend to eat anything at any time, which is harmful to our health. The first thing you should know is that HUNGER can be controlled without suffering.
You can be aware of the amount of food you are eating without becoming obsessed with it. To achieve this you must be smart and eat until you feel satisfied. Eating healthy does not mean suffering from HUNGER.
Controlling Emotions
If you want to control HUNGER, you must first control your emotions. The reality is that it is very common to eat when you are under pressure: excessive nerves, stress, anxiety, worry, among others.
Whenever you feel the need to eat at any time, i.e. when it is not breakfast, lunch or dinner time, you should ask yourself how you feel.
Be honest with yourself and answer that question. You may not be feeling hungry, but you feel pressured for some reason and feel that food might relieve you at that time. Therefore, you do not feel hungry, you feel anguish. To feel better, you don’t have to eat. Try other options like listening to music or talking to your best friend.
Controlling your emotions will help you differentiate HUNGER from psychological discomfort.
Tricks
If you’re usually hungry at any time of the day, even a short time after you’ve eaten, you can apply some tricks in your daily life. To get started, try to drink plenty of water, so your stomach feels satisfied and you don’t feel the need to eat anything.
If the water bores you, you can drink delicious fruit juices that soothe your thirst and make you feel satisfied. If you want to avoid getting very hungry at lunch or dinner time it is convenient to have a small cup of coffee two hours before eating.
This infusion is satiating and you won’t feel hungry for a long time.
Incredible as it may seem, physical activity helps you control HUNGER. Exercise keeps you hormonally balanced, so you won’t suffer from hunger attacks. For this reason, every time you feel hungry, go for a walk. You’re going to release endorphins, which are the hormones of psychological well-being, and you’re going to forget about food for several hours.
